Matching Lighting
With various qualities of light, a keen understanding provides opportunities to create seamless composites.
Concept & Purpose
In order to provide some Hawaiian beach vibes in this product shoot. With a few props like sand and a pineapple, this kind of thing helps, but more importantly, I aimed to replicate the light quality of a soft sunset using a backlight. This light exposed the backdrop and created a slight halo look to the foreground objects.
Lighting & Staging
Lighting:
Mainlight from left (36” softbox)
Reflector to the back right
Flash was held above and behind subject, acting as a rim light
Post Processing
In Photoshop, I removed the background of the raw image below and replaced it with a scenic sunset image by the water.
